Zveme vás na promítání nového dokumentárního filmu The Scramble for Hydrogen in South Africa, který mapuje dopady evropských plánů na dovoz zeleného vodíku na životní prostředí a komunity žijící na jihu Afriky.
Tento dokument sleduje výzkumníky z organizace Corporate Europe Observatory, kteří na jihu Afriky mapují dopady plánovaných projektů vodíkové ekonomiky. Mezi nejhorší dopady patří zabírání půdy, znečišťování vodních zdrojů či marginalizaci místních obyvatel.
Film vyvrací evropský narativ o dekarbonizaci a ukazuje, jak se energetická transformace často proměňuje v zelený extraktivismus – tedy model, který slibuje udržitelnost pro bohaté země, ale přenáší sociální a ekologické náklady na komunity z globálního jihu.
Promítat budeme na Fakultě sociálních studií v Brně (místnost ještě upřesníme), a to ve čtvrtek 12. března od 20:00. Film bude v originálním anglickém znění s českými titulky.
Po filmu následuje debata v angličtině o zeleném extraktivismu, ve které vystoupí Pascoe Sabido z organizace Corporate Europe Observatory a Matěj Moravanský z Deníku Referendum.

We invite you to a screening of the new documentary film The Scramble for Hydrogen in South Africa, which explores the impacts of European plans to import green hydrogen on the environment and communities living in Southern Africa.
We invite you to a screening of the new documentary film The Scramble for Hydrogen in South Africa, which explores the impacts of European plans to import green hydrogen on the environment and communities living in Southern Africa.
The documentary follows researchers from Corporate Europe Observatory as they investigate the consequences of planned hydrogen economy projects in Southern Africa. Among the most severe impacts are land grabbing, pollution of water sources, and the marginalisation of local communities.
The film challenges the European narrative of decarbonisation and shows how the energy transition often turns into green extractivism – a model that promises sustainability for wealthy countries while shifting the social and environmental costs onto communities in the Global South.
The screening will take place at the Faculty of Social Studies in Brno (room to be confirmed) on Thursday, 12 March, at 20:00. The film will be shown in the original English version with Czech subtitles.
The screening will be followed by a debate in English on green extractivism, featuring Pascoe Sabido from Corporate Europe Observatory and Matěj Moravanský from Deník Referendum
